Good day everyone, tis I, Russ. I am back with a long overdue 2nd blog article. Apologies it has taken so long but I have been very busy implementing new features with Matt, giving our Discord server an overhaul, and generally doing... stuff.
But never fear, I return with some exciting news - it's time for our first Contest
Ah, well, not exactly. I promise we are getting around to it. We have been busy giving the drawing tools a pollish - and they still need plenty more pollishing. But once Onion Skinning and Zoom have been added, I will definitely be coming back to implement more non-drawing features. So please stick around!
I'm glad you asked.
The background image that we use on the Register/Login screens on the website needs replacing. It has been there since day 0 and its time we gave the website a better first impression. It's filesize (664kb) is also way too big really, so keep that in mind.
I mentioned this on our Discord recently and a few members of our community suggested I should make this a contest. I have also received numerous submissions already (thank you!), but I think it's only fair to open this up to everybody and see what you all come up with!
I will be honest, I do not know entirely what I want. I know that's not helpful and I am sorry. However, here are some pointers:
I recently saw a post on DrawPool by @pauzee which was just a load of small doodles that filled the canvas. I thought something like that could work well, but that's up to you - I really am open to ideas :-).
What is a contest without a reward? Well, in this instance you could argue that the reward is having your art featured on DrawPool :-)
But, there's more:
Can I say thank you to our amazing community for being a part of our journey. It humbles us both everyday to see such wonderful and diverse drawing from such talented artists, all being posted on our little website!
Also, thank you in advance to everyone who submits art for this contest. Sadly there can only be one winner - let's hope it is you.
Matt and I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
- Russ
